

About Dr Laubie Laubscher
Dr Laubie Laubscher is a dedicated Orthopaedic Surgeon with interests in upper limb & hand surgery and in general orthopaedics.
His journey into medicine started by enrolling into medical school at the University of Pretoria. Early on in his training he enjoyed patient care; since his second year he performed additional work in several Pretoria hospitals to gain exposure to patients and their families
His professional experience ranges across several South African provinces, beginning with an internship in Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal 2008 – 2009. In 2011 Dr Laubscher honed his skills in Orthopaedic Surgery as a community service officer in Kimberley, Northern Cape, gaining valuable experience in orthopaedic trauma.
As a junior doctor Dr Laubscher appreciated the value of a holistic approach to patients and their families. A holistic approach considers the whole person as an individual rather than focusing on specific parts in isolation. The benefits of a holistic approach include comprehensive understanding, balanced solutions, prevention & early detection, personalized approaches, collaboration & teamwork and adaptability. His holistic approach led him through different fields of medicine and internationally. Dr Laubscher has worked an emergency medical officer in the United Kingdom, a GP in rural South Africa, as a General Surgery medical officer in Tembisa, Gauteng and as a chief medical officer in Madagascar.
In 2017, Dr Laubscher committed to a career in orthopaedics by enrolling into post graduate training at the University of Stellenbosch, Tygerberg hospital. Notable achievements of Dr Laubscher’s postgraduate training include being awarded the South African Orthopaedic Association’s (SAOA) GT du Toit prize for the best registrar research paper in 2019 and the SAOA’s best registrar presentation at the SAOA registrar congress in 2021. He finished his orthopaedic specialisation in 2021 with the degrees FC Orth (SA) & MMed (Orth).
In 2023 Dr Laubscher offered services at 2 Military Hospital, Cape Town and developed close relationships with serving and retired military personnel.
- Currently he is a designated service provider to the Regular Force Medical Continuation Fund (VPA members).
- Dr Laubscher offers services as a designated service provider (DSP, network doctor) to several medical aids.
Currently Dr Laubscher offers services at Netcare N1 city hospital. His service emphasizes
- functional recovery
- helping individuals return to their daily routines.
He also has a passion for patients injured at work and those with arthritis.
